(Manhattan, Kansas, 19 May 2010) Edenspace Systems Corporation today announced a collaborative agreement with Syngenta Ventures for the development of new energy crops. Under the terms of the collaboration, Syngenta licenses Edenspace access to a broad range of intellectual property and expertise relating to crop technology, in return for Edenspace equity and certain rights to commercialize Edenspace-developed technology. The companies seek to provide improved crops to growers and biorefineries that will reduce the costs of next-generation renewable fuels and other bioproducts while protecting farm incomes and the environment.

Edenspace will use Syngenta's technology in developing new traits in corn, sorghum, switchgrass, and other energy crops. Edenspace's primary technical objective is to make renewable bioproducts more affordable by reducing the cost of processing non-food agricultural residues and dedicated energy crops. Other terms of the collaboration were not disclosed.

Announcing the collaboration, Mr. Bruce Ferguson, Edenspace's President and Chief Executive Officer, said "Edenspace is pleased to be working on crop biofuels development and commercialization with a global agribusiness leader such as Syngenta. This collaboration is an important step toward providing growers and biorefinery operators with the crop feedstocks they must have to meet the world's demand for renewable fuels and bioproducts."

Edenspace, headquartered in northeastern Kansas, is a commercial leader in developing improved crops for production of biofuels and bioproducts from non-food agricultural residues and dedicated energy crops. The company has entered into research and development agreements with the U.S. Department of Energy ("DOE"), the U.S. Department of Agriculture, DOE's National Renewable Energy Laboratory, universities and other corporations. The company received the U.S. Department of Energy's 2008 Energy Innovator Award.
