Improved Crops for Renewable Fuels and Chemicals
Bioengineering plants with increased biomass and stored enzymes can dramatically reduce the costs of producing renewable fuels and chemicals from non-food parts such as leaves, stems and cobs. Edenspace's first energy crop, Energy Corn™, can increase the amount of ethanol that can be made from the corn crop without increasing farm acreage. Edenspace is also developing other energy-optimized crops that include switchgrass, sorghum and sugar cane.
